Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall named 2024 DRC Board Chair

Dallas Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall named 2024 chair of Dallas Regional Chamber board, to lead efforts to improve quality of life.

Cynt Marshall, CEO of the Dallas Mavericks, has been selected as the 2024 chair of the Dallas Regional Chamber board of directors, effective January 1. This decision was met with enthusiasm from Dale Petroskey, DRC president and CEO, who praised Marshall's dedication to the Dallas region and her instrumental role in the DRC's work in Diversity, Inclusion & Community Engagement. Marshall's one-year term will focus on improving the quality of life for all people in the Dallas region, and she will make her first address as chair at the DRC's 2024 Annual Meeting on January 17.

Marshall, known for her commitment to diversity and inclusion, joined the Mavericks as CEO in 2018 and has since led the team to receive the NBA's Inclusion Leadership Award twice. Her extensive career includes a long tenure at AT&T, where she served in various leadership roles. Marshall's dedication to the community is also evident through her work as the most recent board chair of Dallas CASA, an organization that provides support to children in North Texas. She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and her first book, "You've Been Chosen," has been recognized with a nomination for an NAACP Image Award.

In addition to Marshall's appointment, Jim Springfield, president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, has been chosen as the 2024 board chair-elect by the DRC Board. Marshall and Springfield will co-chair the DRC's Diversity, Inclusion & Community Engagement Council in 2024. Springfield expressed his commitment to the DRC's vision for a strong economy and a high quality of life for the North Texas region, emphasizing the importance of the chamber's work in driving economic growth and fostering collaboration between the business community, educational institutions, and workforce development organizations.

Both Marshall and Springfield's appointments reflect the DRC's dedication to promoting diversity, inclusion, and economic prosperity in the Dallas region. The chamber's selection of these two influential leaders highlights their commitment to driving positive change and progress in the community.
