Ex-G League player Chance Comanche and his girlfriend are facing open murder charges in relation to the death of a woman.
Former G League player Chance Comanche, who was most recently with the Stockton Kings, is facing an open murder charge along with his girlfriend, Sakari Harnden, in connection with the death of a 23-year-old woman, Marayna Rodgers, Las Vegas police announced on Sunday.
Rodgers, a medical assistant from Washington state, was reported missing on December 7 after meeting with Comanche and Harnden on December 5. Following an investigation, Harnden was arrested on December 13, while Comanche was apprehended on December 15 by the FBI in Sacramento.
Initially charged with kidnapping, the charges were later amended to open murder. According to the LVMPD, detectives were able to recover human remains in a desert area in Henderson, Nevada, and these remains were identified as those of Marayna Rodgers. The statement from the LVMPD indicated that Harnden and Comanche were responsible for the murder of Rodgers, and the charges for both individuals will be amended to open murder in coordination with the Clark County District Attorney's office.
Following his arrest, Comanche was released by the Stockton Kings, who were in Henderson on December 5 to play against the G League Ignite. Comanche last played for the Kings on December 12 and appeared in three games following Rodgers' murder.
