Jonathan Majors Trial Exposes Actor's Pattern of Abuse, According to District Attorney
Creed III actor Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assaulting and harassing his then girlfriend, exposing a "pattern of abuse."
Jonathan Majors, the actor known for his roles in Creed III and Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has been charged with assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend in March. The Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, stated that the trial exposed a "pattern of abuse" by Majors. After a split verdict, Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, but was found not guilty of other charges. The charges stem from an alleged altercation between Majors and his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in Chinatown.
The trial lasted more than two weeks and included testimony from 12 witnesses for the prosecution and three for the defense. Jabbari told the jury that Majors had exhibited "rage and aggression" during their relationship, leading to a physical altercation in March. The Manhattan D.A.'s Office emphasized the importance of centering survivors in cases of intimate partner violence and thanked the survivor for bravely telling her story.
The charges against Majors have put a halt to his rising stardom, with Disney pulling the film Magazine Dreams, in which Majors starred, from its release roster. Majors' legal troubles may not be over, as other former partners have reportedly alleged abuse dating back nearly a decade. The actor's future in the entertainment industry remains uncertain as a result of the trial and its implications.
