Escape from Tarkov 0.14 Patch: The Biggest in the Game's Seven-Year History

Escape from Tarkov's massive 0.14 patch is here, featuring a beginner-friendly map, vaulting, a new boss, and more. Servers reopen soon!

Escape from Tarkov has just received its latest patch, and it's a game-changer. The 0.14 patch from Battlestate Games is a massive update, filled with new features, fixes, and an exciting new beginner-friendly map called Ground Zero. This marks one of the most significant updates in the game's seven-year history.

Ground Zero is designed to help beginner players, offering a safe space in the city center of Tarkov for those between levels one and 20. It serves as a training ground with visual cues and starter quests, protecting newer players from higher-level PMCs. However, player scavs of any level will have access, meaning higher-level player scavs may still pose a threat.

The addition of vaulting is a game-changer, allowing for increased mobility and verticality around maps. Players can now climb, mount obstacles, and vault over them, with the option to toggle "Auto" or "Hotkey" controls for precision. Concerns about the speed of vaulting have been addressed, with diverse animations based on obstacle height, player stamina, and action speeds.

The introduction of the BTR-82A on the Streets of Tarkov map adds a new dynamic, as players can now use the "Taxi" service for safe travel around the city. PMCs can also transport items to their stash with "Found in raid" status and request covering fire from the BTR. Additionally, the BTR is neutral unless attacked first.

Other notable updates include the new boss, Kollontay, who patrols Klimov Shopping Mall and the Tarkov Academy of the MVD with minions, a rework of the Shoreline map, and a new achievement system that won't be affected by the game's frequent wipes.

With overhauls to the recoil and armor systems, the game will play differently when servers reopen. The update deployment began at 2AM EST / 7AM GMT and is expected to take roughly six hours. Overall, the 0.14 patch is a game-changing update that adds depth and excitement to Escape from Tarkov.
