Alabama football adds offensive line depth 3-star Texas A&M transfer Naquil Betrand
Massive 6'6" offensive tackle Naquil Betrand commits to Alabama, bringing much-needed depth to the Crimson Tide's offensive line.
The 2023 Aggies signee, a massive 6-foot-6, 340-pound offensive tackle, recently announced his commitment to Alabama on social media. Despite not seeing playing time in his first season with Texas A&M, he will have four years of eligibility remaining. In his Instagram post, he expressed his belief that Alabama is the best at developing players.
Alabama is in need of offensive line depth after allowing 43 sacks this season, the second-most in the SEC. The new signee will be responsible for protecting mobile quarterback Jalen Milroe, who led the Crimson Tide to an SEC championship and a College Football Playoff berth.
Before choosing Texas A&M, the three-star prospect received offers from schools such as Auburn, Syracuse, Kentucky, Georgia, Penn State, and Washington. His decision to transfer to Alabama means that the Aggies will lose him to an SEC rival.
Ranked as the No. 55 offensive tackle and the No. 19 player in Pennsylvania, the 247Sports' Composite rankings placed him at No. 792 nationally. Despite offers from other SEC schools, he signed his letter of intent to play for the Aggies in 2002.
Alabama's recruiting and transfer portal success continues, with the No. 2 high school recruiting class of 2024 according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The class includes three five-star recruits and two high-level transfer talents. This latest addition further solidifies Alabama's strong recruiting efforts under Coach Nick Saban.
