Open New Year's Day: Hours, Options, and Deals

The Brandon Sun will not publish an e-edition on New Year's Day, but regular publication will resume on Tuesday. If you want your service or business to be included in the Sun's next holiday hours listing, email your hours of operation a few days in advance to business reporter Abiola Odutola at [email protected], with "Holiday Hours" in the subject line.
City of Brandon offices, including City Hall, the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex, the Civic Services Complex, and Parks Complex, will be closed on New Year's Day. Brandon Transit will run conventional service and Brandon Access Transit services from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on New Year's Day, and the Transit Information Centre will be closed. The Eastview Landfill will also be closed, and the Eastview Landfill has transitioned to winter hours. Brandon Municipal Cemetery is open from dawn to dusk, but the cemetery office will be closed.
All after-hours Public Works emergencies should be directed to the City of Brandon Public Works After-Hours Line at 204-729-2285. The Civic Services Complex remains closed until further notice.
Ride Brandon Transit for free on New Year's Eve from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.
As for grocery stores, the Real Canadian Superstore will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Co-op Marketplace will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The pharmacy at Co-op Marketplace will be closed, but the Co-op gas bars and the Western Nations Gas Bar will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Brandon's three full Liquor Mart locations and the Liquor Mart Express will be closed, but the Beer Warehouse at the Victoria Inn will be open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (New Year's Day might affect these hours).
