Texas football is making history with its first appearance in the College Football Playoff as they prepare to take on No. 2 Washington in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
The No. 3 Longhorns (12-1, 8-1 Big 12) secured their spot in the top four after a dominant 49-21 victory over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 championship game. Quarterback Quinn Ewers shone in the game, throwing for over 450 yards and four touchdowns.
Facing the undefeated Huskies (13-0, 9-0 Pac-12) and Heisman Trophy runner-up Michael Penix Jr., who led the nation with 4,218 passing yards and 33 passing touchdowns, Texas will have a tough challenge ahead.
Since their loss to Oklahoma in October, the Longhorns have been on a seven-game winning streak. Ewers, who missed two games due to injury, has had an impressive season, completing 248 of his 351 pass attempts for 3,161 yards, with 21 touchdowns and six interceptions.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN, with streaming options available through the ESPN app and Fubo. Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. CT at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
