The trailer for the film, titled "The American Dream: The 21 Savage Story," showcases the pair portraying 21 Savage at different stages of his life, complete with face tattoos.
Directed by Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori, Fam Udeorji, and Luis Perez, the trailer opens with Donald Glover, sporting dreadlocks, being arrested by ICE officials and taken to prison. As the clip progresses, Caleb McLaughlin, playing the younger version of 21 Savage, is seen facing off with the rapper in an interrogation room, showcasing 21 delivering a new song.
The trailer also features actress Gail Bean, potentially playing a family member of 21 Savage, speaking to McLaughlin in character, and popular social media star Druski bullying the rapper. Additionally, Glover depicts a scene showing how 21 Savage arrived at his stage name while in a recording studio.
Penned by Jamal Olori and Stephen Glover, the film is a collaboration with Lionsgate, Epic Records, and 21 Savage's Slaughter Gang imprint. The cast also includes Jabari Banks, Chad Lindberg, Victoria Pedretti, Young Mazino, and Natasha Lyonne.
With the involvement of the Glover brothers, the film is expected to take unexpected twists and turns beyond a typical biopic. The release date for the film has not yet been announced. Check out the trailer for a glimpse of what's to come.
