Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma makes the cut at Dubai Desert Classic, Cameron Young takes 3-shot lead, Luke Donald scores hole-in-one.
Shubhankar Sharma, the only Indian representative at the Dubai Desert Classic, shot a 1-under 71 in his second round to make the cut and secure a tied-52nd place finish. Sharma's first eight holes were action-packed, starting with a double bogey and ending with an eagle. Cameron Young took the lead with a three-shot advantage after shooting 67-64, putting him at 13-under. Andy Sullivan and Adrian Meronk are close behind, with Meronk missing a crucial birdie putt on the 18th hole. The Hojgaard twins and Richie Ramsay are tied for fourth at 7-under. Defending champion Rory McIlroy sits at Tied-24th, 10 shots behind Young. This is the fifth time Sharma has made the cut in seven starts at the event. Despite an early double bogey, Sharma made a strong comeback with impressive approach shots and multiple birdies. Young's exceptional performance on the back nine of the Majlis Course included five birdies, bringing him to 14-under. Brian Harman and Luke Donald also made the cut, with Harman shooting a second straight 71 and Donald achieving a hole-in-one on the Par-3 fourth.
