Boston Celtics beat reporter roasts Cam Thomas in a brutal manner
Boston Celtics' Jay King criticized Cam Thomas, but Nets fans praised his performance against the Celtics, making him a potential trade target.
During the Boston Celtics' 118-110 win over the Brooklyn Nets, The Athletic's Jay King didn't hold back when criticizing Cam Thomas. NBC Sports Boston's Max Lederman innocently mentioned that the former LSU guard was fun and that he loves him, but King quickly shut that down, pointing out Thomas' lack of passing, defensive play, and poor shot selection. Despite the criticism, Thomas had a strong performance, shooting 10/20 from the field and 4/7 from the 3-point line, and finishing with 26 points, four assists, two rebounds, and two steals.
In response to King's comments, several Nets-centric Twitter accounts praised Thomas' defensive performance against the Celtics. ClutchPoints' Erik Slater noted that Thomas had an impressive second-half performance, especially given his early struggles. Another prominent Nets fan account, BrooklynNetcast, also highlighted Thomas and rookie Jalen Wilson's strong defensive play in the second half.
Many believe that Thomas would have been a great pick back in 2021, but the Celtics did not have a first-round pick. However, the team has not added a first-round pick since Brad Stevens took over as President of Basketball Operations. Despite this, it's unlikely that Thomas will be a low-cost trade target in the offseason, as Brooklyn is likely to build their future around him.
