Harry Kane's trophy drought continues as Lazio's Immobile leads Bayern Munich to Champions League defeat. Fans claim Kane is "cursed".
Harry Kane is facing the possibility of another season without winning a trophy after Ciro Immobile added to the woes of ten-man Bayern Munich when Dayot Upamecano was sent off.
Immobile scored a calm penalty on 69 minutes, bringing his total to four Champions League goals for the Italian striker.
The penalty was given after French center-back Upamecano made a wild lunge and landed on Gustav Isaksen's ankle in the box.
Thomas Tuchel appears to be under pressure, as cameras captured the former Chelsea manager with his head in his hands at the Stadio Olimpico.
Kane, who joined the club from Tottenham in a record deal last summer, had hoped to win his first major trophy.
However, it seems that after eight months at the club, he has already transformed them into a team that struggles to score goals, similar to his former club in North London.
Before his arrival at Bayern, they had won the Bundesliga 11 years in a row, but are currently in second place in the table, trailing Bayer Leverkusen by five points.
Kane also witnessed Bayern losing the DFL Supercup at the start of the season before being eliminated from the DFB-Pokal in the second round in November.
In a dismal performance for Tuchel's team, they failed to have a single shot on target in the first half of the Champions League for the first time this season, leading fans to believe that Kane is "cursed."
The last time this occurred was against Manchester City last April.
Additionally, it was the first time they lost the first leg of a Champions League last-16 game in 11 seasons.
One fan said, "I blame Kane. He is jinxed, the man can't win a trophy."
The two best chances of the first half came from former Spurs striker Kane with a close-range shot that he would usually have scored, and later, Jamal Musiala fired over the bar after a well-executed passing sequence.
Tuchel was visibly animated on the touchline and undoubtedly gave his players a stern talking to at halftime.
However, it was Lazio who came out of the restart with a renewed determination.
They should have taken the lead when a lofted ball from Luis Alberto found Isaksen, who was one-on-one with Manuel Neuer.
He had time to set himself, but his shot was saved by an outstretched leg from the German goalkeeper.
Kane headed over from 14 yards out, but in his defense, the cross was already looping high.
Things went from bad to worse for Bayern when Upamecano's reckless tackle saw him sent off before Lazio opened the scoring.
Tuchel substituted Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller for Mathys Tel and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, but they failed to inject any more energy into Bayern.
Kane's free-kick was blocked by Lazio's wall, summing up the visitors' frustrations for the evening.
