LSU RB Trey Holly arrested and charged with attempted murder
LSU running back Trey Holly arrested and charged with attempted murder after shooting at Louisiana apartment complex. Freshman denies involvement.
LSU running back Trey Holly was taken into custody and accused of second-degree attempted murder in connection to a shooting at a Louisiana apartment complex that injured two people. The 19-year-old freshman turned himself in and is being held on a $512,000 bond. He's also facing charges of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon. His attorney, Kelvin Rodgers, stated that Holly plans to plead not guilty to all three charges and denies any involvement.
The Union Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed that the injured individuals were bystanders. Following the incident, LSU suspended Holly indefinitely from all team activities. The school released a statement acknowledging the arrest and subsequent suspension, refraining from further comment out of respect for the judicial process.
Holly, who stands at 5-foot-7 and weighs 192 pounds, had a notable performance for the Tigers in 2023, recording 110 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. He holds Louisiana's all-time rushing record with 10,523 yards. Apart from Holly, two others, including a 17-year-old minor, were also arrested in connection with the shooting in Farmerville, La.
LSU had a successful season, finishing second in the SEC West with a 10-3 record and securing a victory against Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl. However, Holly's arrest and suspension have undoubtedly cast a shadow over the team's accomplishments.
