Christian Benteke nets hat-trick as Revolution stumble in MLS opener against D.C. United

Belgian international Christian Benteke scored a hat-trick as D.C. United defeated the New England Revolution 3-1.

In a thrilling match, the former Belgian international scored a hat-trick to lead D.C. United to a 3-1 victory over the New England Revolution. Benteke's first goal came in the 34th minute when he headed home a cross, and he followed it up with a second goal in the 72nd minute. He completed his hat-trick in the 90th minute of the match, outleaping Revolution keeper Henrich Ravas to secure the win for D.C. United.

Despite both teams being credited with five shots on target, D.C. United dominated in attempts, with a 31-10 edge over the New England Revolution.
