Hunter Schafer arrested protest ceasefire Jewish Voices for Peace
"Euphoria" star Hunter Schafer was arrested for protesting the Israel-Hamas war. President Biden discussed Israel at "Late Night With Seth Meyers."
Hunter Schafer, known for her role in "Euphoria," was reportedly arrested on Monday for participating in a protest calling for a ceasefire amid the Israel-Hamas war. The rally was organized by Jewish Voices for Peace and took place at 30 Rockefeller Center during President Joe Biden's appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers."
A spokesperson for Jewish Voices for Peace confirmed that Schafer attended the protest and was arrested along with 50 other people. The organization commended her commitment to Palestinian freedom and justice for everyone.
The NYPD's public information office reported that a total of 30 individuals were taken into custody and issued summonses for trespassing following the demonstration.
Photos on social media show Schafer being escorted by an NYPD officer with her hands handcuffed behind her back. She was seen wearing a t-shirt that read "ceasefire now" and holding a sign that said "The whole world is watching."
The activist organization captioned a post on Instagram, stating that hundreds of anti-Zionist Jews and allies disrupted President Biden's appearance on the show to protest his foreign policy, which they claim has funded and fueled genocide in Gaza.
During his appearance on "Late Night," Biden discussed the historical significance of Israel for Jewish people and expressed the hope that the Israeli government would agree to not engage in activities during Ramadan. He also acknowledged waning support for Israel if the country continues its actions in Gaza.
In light of the ongoing conflict, Prince William has also expressed his desire to see an end to the Israel-Hamas war "as soon as possible."
In a separate development, actress Selma Blair has apologized for making Islamophobic comments and participating in "hate and misinformation."
