Lauren Boebert son arrested vehicle trespass property thefts
Rep. Lauren Boebert's son was arrested for property thefts, including felony counts, amid family troubles. Boebert's office did not respond.
Tyler Jay Boebert, the 18-year-old son of Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., was taken into custody on Tuesday in Rifle, Colorado after a series of vehicle trespass and property thefts, according to local law enforcement.
The Rifle Police Department announced via Facebook that Tyler Boebert is facing multiple felony charges, including criminal possession of identification documents and conspiracy to commit a felony, as well as over 15 misdemeanor and petty offenses. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are not currently available. It's important to note that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
As of Wednesday morning, Tyler Boebert is listed as an inmate in the Garfield County jail, with no bond or release date set.
Rep. Boebert's office has not yet responded to requests for comment from NBC News.
This arrest comes on the heels of Rep. Boebert's well-documented personal struggles, including a divorce from her husband, Jayson Boebert, and a temporary restraining order that she obtained against him after alleging threats and unauthorized entry into their home. Her ex-husband has countered these claims, stating that he entered the home to clean it in preparation for the arrival of Boebert's grandmother and accused her of using the restraining order to justify her move to a new congressional district.
In December, Boebert switched to a neighboring congressional district that is heavily Republican, avoiding a difficult re-election campaign in the district she narrowly won in 2022. She cited family issues as a driving force behind her decision to relocate, seeking a fresh start after a challenging year.
The situation involving Tyler Boebert's arrest adds another layer to the personal challenges that Rep. Boebert has faced in recent times.
