Ange Postecoglou praises Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson in Tottenham's late win

Tottenham stages late comeback to secure win against Crystal Palace with Timo Werner scoring first goal since joining Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur found themselves on the brink of a second consecutive defeat as Eberechi Eze scored a stunning free-kick for Crystal Palace just before the hour mark. However, Timo Werner, who had missed a golden opportunity in the first half, redeemed himself by scoring in the 77th minute after Brennan Johnson's excellent play. This goal marked Werner's first for Spurs since his loan move from RB Leipzig and only his 11th Premier League goal in 62 appearances. Manager Ange Postecoglou praised Werner's performance, highlighting his constant threat and aggression throughout the game.

Despite struggling to break down Palace in the first half, Spurs turned the game around in the second half. Oliver Glasner's side took the lead through Eze's free-kick, but Johnson's tenacity led to Werner's equalizer. Romero and Son Heung-min then added two more goals to secure a 3-1 victory for Tottenham. Postecoglou commended his team's belief in their processes and football, emphasizing the importance of breaking down deep-lying defenses.

Regarding Richarlison's injury, Postecoglou addressed reports suggesting the Brazilian forward could be fit for international duty. He clarified that while he initially ruled Richarlison out for three to four weeks, there is still time before Brazil's upcoming fixtures against England and Spain. Postecoglou emphasized that he relies on medical guidance and will assess the situation closer to the international break.
