UNC Basketball Senior Night Performance: Program delivers unforgettable show
UNC basketball dominates Notre Dame on Senior Night, clinching at least a share of the ACC title in a memorable performance.
The atmosphere in Chapel Hill was electric on Tuesday night, as the UNC basketball team delivered a commanding performance to secure at least a share of the ACC title.
In their last home game of the 2023-2024 season, the Tar Heels put on a show that will be remembered for years to come.
On 'Senior Night,' the six (possibly seven) seniors were honored in style as UNC cruised to a 33-point victory over Notre Dame. This win guarantees the Tar Heels a piece of the ACC regular season championship.
Before the game, the Dean Smith Center crowd showered Armando Bacot with cheers in recognition of his final game in Chapel Hill. Fans also rallied behind RJ Davis, urging him to stay for another year with chants of "one more year!"
Despite a different starting lineup featuring Creighton Lebo, Duwe Farris, and Rob Landry, UNC controlled the game from start to finish. They never trailed, building a 15-point lead by halftime and stretching it to over 30 in the second half with impressive runs.
Davis, a frontrunner for ACC Player of the Year, led all scorers with 22 points. Bacot and Cormac Ryan each added 14 points in their farewell home games, while Harrison Ingram (11 points, 14 rebounds) and Jalen Washington (10 points) also made significant contributions.
And let's not forget Bacot's unexpected performance from beyond the arc, where he went 2-2 including a memorable long-range three-pointer in his final home game!
The night was filled with mixed emotions as the seniors were celebrated for their contributions to the UNC basketball program. While fans bid farewell to Bacot and potentially Davis, the memories of this special night will live on in Tar Heels lore.
