Ex-con turned advocate Sheldon Johnson arrested for murder, dismemberment in Bronx. Shocking discovery made after wellness check in apartment.
Sheldon Johnson, a criminal justice advocate who had previously shared his story of turning his life around after serving time in prison, has been arrested on murder charges in connection with a gruesome killing in the Bronx. The arrest came after a wellness check led to the discovery of a dismembered body in an apartment in Highbridge.
Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and seeing Johnson carrying cleaning supplies in and out of the building multiple times throughout the night. Surveillance footage showed him with cleaning items and a black garbage bag. When police searched his home, they found the victim's body parts in the freezer.
The victim, identified as Collin Small, had a possible connection to Johnson from their time in prison. Johnson, who had been released from prison last year after serving 25 years, had been working with the Queens Defenders office to help reform himself and others involved in gang life. He had even appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast to discuss his advocacy work.
Despite Johnson's claims of innocence, he has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and weapon possession. The motive behind the killing is still unclear, but sources suggest there may have been a dispute between the two men. The case has shocked the Bronx neighborhood and raised questions about Johnson's past and his efforts to reform himself.
