Elton John Praises Real Estate Rendition of Hit Daniel at Album-Release Event

The band opened and closed the gig with a performance of Elton John's hit song "Daniel," despite it not being on their new record.

The unique event caught the attention of Elton John, who invited Real Estate's frontman, Martin Courtney, to be interviewed on his Apple Music radio show, the Rocket Hour. John commended the band for their album launch gimmick and expressed his admiration for their performance of his song.

During the interview, Courtney shared that his three daughters are huge fans of Elton John and were thrilled about his radio show appearance. John further praised Real Estate's new record and their song "Flowers," which he played on the show.

In addition to the Union Pool show, Real Estate also played "Daniel" at a release event at Rough Trade NYC. The band is currently on a U.S. tour in support of Daniel, with plans for a European tour in 2024. Tickets for their shows are available through various outlets.

"Daniel," originally featured on Elton John's 1973 album Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player, tells the story of a Vietnam War veteran seeking escape from unwanted attention. The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
