Suge Knight praises Kendrick Lamar, shames J. Cole after rap beef
Suge Knight slams J. Cole for surrendering to Kendrick Lamar, comparing him to Diddy at 1995 Source Awards. Listen to his reaction.
Suge Knight is expressing his disappointment in J. Cole for surrendering to Kendrick Lamar during their recent beef, all while speaking from his prison cell. TMZ Hip Hop obtained audio of Suge's reaction to Cole's decision to forfeit to Kendrick at the Dreamville Festival, where he praised Kendrick and scolded Cole for giving up. Suge believes that in order to be the best, one must defeat the best, and criticized Cole for his actions, suggesting that if more people had his mentality, African-Americans would still be enslaved.
While Suge's comments may have been harsh, Cole himself has used slave metaphors in his music. Suge also drew parallels between Cole's behavior and Diddy's alleged actions at the 1995 Source Awards, where tensions between Death Row and Bad Boy Records ran high. Suge's comparison can be heard in the recording obtained by TMZ Hip Hop.
Suge commended Kendrick for representing their shared hometown of Compton and the West Coast Hip Hop culture, pledging to listen to 2Pac's "All Eyez On Me" to motivate his workouts for the week. Kendrick's diss track towards Drake and Cole on "Like That" helped him secure the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for the third consecutive week, while Cole is reportedly planning to remove his diss track "7 Mile Drill" from streaming services.
Charlamagne Tha God criticized those who were upset with Cole for backing down from Kendrick after much anticipation, naming them the "Donkey Of The Day." However, Suge Knight did not hold back in calling out Cole for his quick retreat, labeling him as weak for surrendering so easily. It is reported that Suge will address this topic further on his upcoming episode of "Collect Call," set to be released tomorrow. It remains to be seen whether he will continue to discuss this issue or move on to other topics.
