Get Escape from Tarkov new PvE mode for $250
Escape from Tarkov introduces new $250 edition with exclusive features, including offline co-op PvE mode, sparking controversy among players.
Carli Velocci, a seasoned editor and journalist in the realms of video games, technology, and culture, has made a name for themselves with work featured in prestigious publications such as IGN, Digital Trends, and Game Developer.
Recently, developer Battlestate Games unveiled a new special edition of their popular game, Escape from Tarkov, known as The Unheard Edition. Priced at $250, this edition offers exclusive features and content, including an offline, co-op PvE mode. While players have previously purchased editions with special perks like early access and additional equipment, the discontinuation of the Edge of Darkness edition in January raised questions about the status of future DLC.
Lead community manager, Daniel Mavlyuberdinov, clarified on Discord that the PvE mode in The Unheard Edition is not considered DLC, but rather a unique game mode exclusive to buyers of this edition. Owners of the Edge of Darkness edition can upgrade to The Unheard Edition to access the PvE mode at a discounted rate of $100.
The new edition also boasts unique weapons, additional flea market slots, and enhanced character progression after server wipes. This feature is crucial as server wipes level the playing field by resetting player progress, preventing veteran players from having an unfair advantage over newcomers.
Despite these exciting additions, the announcement has sparked controversy within the gaming community, with some labeling the edition as pay-to-win. Disgruntled fans have expressed disappointment and frustration, accusing developers of neglecting their loyal player base.
Battlestate Games has yet to respond to these concerns, but we will update this story as more information becomes available.
