The 2024 Tony Awards nominations were dominated by two musicals, "Hell's Kitchen" and "Stereophonic," which each received 13 nods. "Hell's Kitchen" is inspired by Alicia Keys' teenage years in New York City, while "Stereophonic" tells the story of a rock group on the brink of splintering. These two shows will compete for the title of best musical, with "The Outsiders" close behind with 12 nominations.

In the best play revival category, "Appropriate" and "Merrily We Roll Along" received eight and seven nominations respectively. Hollywood stars like Daniel Radcliffe and Eddie Redmayne were recognized for their performances, with Radcliffe earning his first Tony nomination for his role in "Merrily We Roll Along." Other notable nominees include Rachel McAdams, Sarah Paulson, and Jessica Lange for their work in various plays.

The best musical race includes "Suffs," a historical epic about the women's suffrage movement, and "Illinoise," a dance review set to Sufjan Stevens' music. In the best play category, "Stereophonic" will compete against plays like "Mary Jane" and "Mother Play."

The Tony Awards will be hosted by Ariana DeBose and held at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City on June 16. The broadcast will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+, with DeBose hosting for the third time. With a mix of new and revival productions, this year's Tony Awards promise to be a celebration of the best of Broadway.
