Angie Harmon Files Lawsuit: Dog Shot and Killed by Former Instacart Shopper - WCCB Charlotte's CW

Actress Angie Harmon sues Instacart and shopper for shooting and killing her dog, seeking justice for trespassing and negligence.

Charlotte, North Carolina - Angie Harmon, a well-known actor, has taken legal action against Instacart and one of its former shoppers for the tragic death of her beloved dog at her Charlotte residence earlier this year.

In her lawsuit, Harmon is seeking accountability from Instacart and the shopper, identified as Christopher Anthoney Reid, for the death of her dog. The lawsuit includes a range of allegations, such as trespassing, gross negligence, emotional distress, invasion of privacy, negligent misrepresentation, and more.

The incident occurred on March 30th when Harmon utilized Instacart to order groceries for delivery to her home. According to the lawsuit, Harmon communicated with "Merle," an Instacart shopper, regarding the groceries and their delivery location. However, upon the arrival of the groceries, it was not an older woman as depicted in Merle's profile photo, but instead a "tall and intimidating young man."

Tragedy struck when Harmon heard a gunshot while upstairs tending to her squirrel feeders. She rushed outside to find her daughters in distress and learned that her beloved dog, Oliver, had been shot. Harmon witnessed Reid concealing a gun in the front of his pants.

Desperately, Harmon rushed Oliver to the veterinarian's office, but unfortunately, the dog succumbed to his injuries.

In a recent Instagram post recounting the harrowing experience, Harmon highlighted that the shopper showed no signs of harm or struggle, raising further questions about the events leading up to the shooting.

Instacart responded to the incident by promptly suspending the shopper upon receiving the report of the shooting, eventually terminating his account permanently. The company emphasized its stringent background checks on shoppers, prohibition of weapon possession, and anti-fraud measures to ensure shopper accountability.

While expressing sympathy for Harmon and her family, Instacart reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards violence and confirmed the permanent deactivation of the shopper's account.

The tragic incident has left Harmon and her family devastated, prompting legal action to seek justice for the senseless loss of their beloved pet.
