Diddy not facing charges for 2016 Los Angeles hotel assault, district attorney's office confirms

Sean "Diddy" Combs won't be charged for hotel assault on ex-girlfriend due to statute of limitations. Federal agents later raided his homes.

Sean "Diddy" Combs will not face charges for the 2016 Century City hotel incident involving his former girlfriend, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The disturbing security camera footage obtained by CNN shows Combs assaulting Cassandra "Cassie" Ventura at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City. Despite the violent nature of the video, the statute of limitations prevents charges from being filed due to the time that has passed since the incident.

The footage captures Combs, clad in only a towel and socks, violently attacking Ventura by throwing her to the ground, kicking her repeatedly, and dragging her away after taking her purse and bag. Ventura had filed a civil complaint against Combs last year, alleging that he paid the hotel $50,000 for the security footage.

While the DA's Office acknowledges the disturbing nature of the video, they are unable to pursue charges due to the timeline of the incident. They urge individuals with evidence of crimes to report them to law enforcement for further investigation.

In a separate development, federal agents conducted raids in Los Angeles and Miami in March 2024 related to Combs. Reports suggest that the investigation, led by the Department of Homeland Security's human trafficking unit, stemmed from allegations in civil lawsuits against Combs. These lawsuits include accusations of sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking.

Combs' attorney, Aaron Dyer, denounced the raids as excessive and maintained Combs' innocence, vowing to continue fighting to clear his name. The ongoing legal battles and investigations surrounding Combs highlight the complexities and challenges of addressing allegations of abuse and misconduct in high-profile cases.
