Elvis Presley granddaughter sues sale Graceland estate

Elvis Presley's granddaughter fights to stop Graceland sale, alleging fraud. Auction halted as lawsuit claims forged signatures on loan documents.

The granddaughter of Elvis Presley, Riley Keough, has taken legal action to stop the sale of the iconic Graceland estate, claiming her mother was a victim of fraud. The Tennessee mansion was set to be auctioned off by a firm alleging that Lisa Marie Presley used the property as collateral for a $3.8 million loan. However, Keough argues that the lender, Naussany Investments and Private Lending LLC, used forged signatures and is not a legitimate company.

In a lawsuit filed in Shelby County Chancery Court, Keough asserts that the documents presented are fraudulent. She claims that the Deed of Trust supposedly signed by her mother in 2018 was not valid and that the lawyer involved in the transaction never verified Presley's signature. The public auction, scheduled for May 23, was temporarily halted by a court order, with an injunction hearing set for the following week.

Elvis Presley Enterprises, the organization managing Graceland, has refuted the claims of fraud, stating that there is no foreclosure sale and that the counter lawsuit aims to stop the alleged misconduct. Graceland, purchased by Elvis in 1957 for $102,500, has become a popular tourist attraction with exhibits showcasing his personal belongings, stage outfits, and awards.

Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis's only child, tragically passed away in January 2023. Her death was attributed to complications from a small bowel obstruction. She joins her father, grandparents, and son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020, in the meditation garden at Graceland. Priscilla Presley, Elvis's ex-wife, expressed her desire to be buried next to him, further solidifying the estate's significance in music history.

As the legal battle continues, Naussany Investments has yet to respond to the allegations. The future of Graceland remains uncertain, with Keough's efforts to protect her family's legacy at the forefront of the dispute.
