Reports indicate that former Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby has been ordered to forfeit her Florida condo following her conviction for perjury and mortgage fraud.
During a sentencing hearing before a federal judge, Mosby was found guilty of one count of mortgage fraud for making false statements on loan applications to purchase two Florida vacation homes. Additionally, she was convicted of two counts of perjury for falsely claiming financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic to withdraw money from the city's retirement fund.
Despite the convictions, Mosby maintains her innocence, stating, "I've done nothing wrong. I've done nothing illegal and nothing criminal."
While she was acquitted of a second mortgage fraud charge, Mosby has alleged that she was unfairly targeted in a politically and racially motivated prosecution under the Trump administration. She has sought a pardon from President Biden, arguing that no remorse or regret is warranted in her case due to the injustice she believes she has faced.
Support for Mosby's clemency campaign has come from the Congressional Black Caucus and the NAACP. In 2015, Mosby gained national attention for charging six police officers in connection to the death of Freddie Gray.
