Rapper Nicki Minaj Arrest Video Amsterdam
Rapper Nicki Minaj films apparent arrest in Amsterdam, live on Instagram. Airport officials accuse her of drug possession. Video goes viral.
Rapper Nicki Minaj caused a stir on social media early Saturday morning by documenting what appeared to be her own arrest in Amsterdam.
Officials at the Amsterdam airport were seen trying to detain Minaj for alleged drug possession in a video she shared on Instagram Live.
While Instagram Live videos are typically only available in real-time, clips of the incident have circulated on Instagram, showing airport officials informing Minaj of her arrest and the need to search her personal belongings. A spokesperson for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee confirmed to NBC News that a 41-year-old woman was arrested at Schiphol Airport for possession of soft drugs.
In the video, an official can be heard telling Minaj that she is being arrested for drug possession and requesting her cooperation in getting into their vehicle for transportation to the police station.
"I'm not going in there. I need a lawyer present," Minaj responded.
Eventually, Minaj, also known as Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, complied and got into the official vehicle, expressing concerns about making it to her scheduled show in Manchester, England.
The official assured the "Super Bass" singer that they would try to expedite the process. Minaj is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, and it remains uncertain whether she was taken to an Amsterdam Police Station.
Following the end of her Instagram Live stream, Minaj uploaded a video to her Instagram showing a conversation with a man who informed her that her bags needed to be searched.
"The police officer told me we have to also search all the luggage and to search everything. I'm so sorry to say that," the officer informed Minaj.
Minaj questioned why her bags weren't searched before boarding the plane, prompting the official to explain that a more thorough search was necessary after she filmed the encounter.
Minaj defended herself, stating that she was not carrying any additional items in her bags. She also shared updates on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that authorities claimed to have found marijuana and were waiting for another group to weigh the pre-rolled joints.
Despite her security team clarifying ownership of the items, Minaj expressed frustration over the situation and the pilot's request for her to remove her Instagram post.
Representatives for Minaj and the Amsterdam airport have yet to respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.
