Max Verstappen Wins Spanish Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton Podium Finish | Formula 1 News

Max Verstappen wins 7th race of 2024 F1 season at Spanish Grand Prix, with Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton on podium.

The 2024 Spanish Grand Prix was a thrilling race that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end. Lando Norris put up a valiant fight, but it was Max Verstappen who ultimately claimed victory, his seventh of the season. The gap between the two drivers was a mere 2.2 seconds at the finish line, showcasing the intense battle that unfolded on the track.

Mercedes once again secured third and fourth place, with Lewis Hamilton finally clinching his first podium of the 2024 season. George Russell made a bold move at the start, going from fourth to first in the first turn, but Verstappen quickly overtook him to take the lead on Lap 3. This strategic move allowed Verstappen to control the pace of the race and manage his tires effectively.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz maintained their positions throughout the race, finishing in fifth and sixth place respectively. Fernando Alonso, the home hero, had a disappointing race, finishing in 12th place without scoring any points.

Russell, Norris, and Hamilton battled it out for the podium positions, with Russell leading for most of the race. However, a tactical error by Mercedes in putting hard tires on Russell's final stint cost him a podium finish. Sainz also fell victim to the hard tires, losing positions towards the end of the race.

Oscar Piastri had a strong recovery from his poor qualifying performance to finish in seventh place, while Sergio Perez secured eighth place. Alpine had a successful day with both Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon finishing in the points.

Verstappen extended his lead in the championship standings, now 70 points ahead of his closest competitor. Norris moved up to second place, overtaking Leclerc in the standings.

The next race on the F1 calendar is the Austrian Grand Prix on June 30, promising more exciting action on the track.
