Neal Shipley had an impressive debut on the PGA Tour, finishing his opening round in the top ten out of a field of over 150 players. The Mt. Lebanon native and Central Catholic graduate is currently tied for 9th place with a score of -5 under par, just three strokes off the lead.

Although his first nine holes were not his best, Shipley's back nine saw him make an eagle on the 10th hole followed by five straight birdies. His second round is set to begin this morning at 8:35 a.m., with the potential to earn a paycheck if he makes the cut.

If Shipley maintains his position in 9th place, he could take home over $269,000. Finishing above 22nd place would secure him more than $100,000, while the tournament winner stands to earn a massive $1.66 million.

Fans can watch Shipley's performance in the final two rounds of the tournament on KDKA-TV, with coverage airing from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Shipley gained popularity as an amateur during this year's Masters and U.S. Open, winning low amateur honors in both events.

After turning professional following his success at the U.S. Open, Shipley secured a spot in the top ten in his PGA Tour Americas debut. He has already earned a sponsor's exemption for the upcoming John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, further solidifying his promising career in professional golf.
