Recognizing that his grappling skills were his best chance at success, Garry (15-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) executed a gameplan focused on taking the fight to the ground, ultimately earning a unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) win over Page.

As the fight began, chants of "MVP" echoed through the arena as Page approached Garry in a side stance. Both fighters exchanged single strikes, with Garry landing the first significant blow by scoring a takedown off a caught kick.

Garry quickly transitioned to Page's back, securing a body triangle and attempting a rear-naked choke. Although Page escaped the submission, he found himself on the defensive against Garry's ground strikes until the end of the round.
