Celebrate Fox Lake Parade Early Independence Day Highlight

Fox Lake Parade celebrates Independence Day early with red, white, and blue theme, featuring downtown car show, Lakefront Park festivities, and fireworks.

The Celebrate Fox Lake Parade took place on Saturday with a theme of "Red, White, and Blue," marking one of many Lake County events celebrating Independence Day ahead of schedule. The parade featured over 30 entries and was a heartwarming tradition for many in the community.

In addition to the parade, festivities included a downtown car show, activities at the newly renovated Lakefront Park, and evening fireworks over Nippersink Lake. Jennifer Kuhn, Fox Lake's program and events manager, expressed excitement about the completion of the long-term Lakefront Park development, which includes amenities such as pickleball courts, a boardwalk, municipal piers, an amphitheater, a playground, a splash pad, and upgraded seating. This $12 million investment was made by the village without raising taxes.

The parade route started at Grant Community High School parking lot, moving along Grand Avenue to downtown Fox Lake. Mayor Donny Schmit, along with the village's mascot, Beacon the Pelican, made an appearance, emphasizing the importance of the parade tradition to the community. Emcee Michael Lescher, accompanied by parade judges and local dignitaries, provided commentary and patriotic songs from a raised stage at School Court.

The grand marshal of this year's parade was Chris Johnson, CEO of Tivoli Enterprises, Inc., operator of Classic Cinemas. Lake County pageant royalty from various towns participated in the parade, including Miss Round Lake Area 2024, Darby Leetch, who highlighted the importance of pageants in fostering confidence and supporting foster children.

Community members like Danice Moore from the Fox Lake Lions Club emphasized the significance of showing support for the country and creating lasting memories for children. Attendees like Jason Sherko of Ingleside expressed their pride in celebrating the country and honoring the sacrifices of service men and women at the annual event.

Overall, the Celebrate Fox Lake Parade was a vibrant and meaningful celebration of community spirit, tradition, and patriotism, bringing together residents to enjoy a day filled with pride and joy.
