Britney Spears Accidentally Hits Herself in the Face during Encounter with Victor Wembanyama Captured on Video

No charges filed after altercation between Britney Spears and NBA player.

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- After a brief investigation, Las Vegas police have announced that no charges will be filed in the altercation involving pop star Britney Spears, San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama, and a member of the player's security team. The incident took place at a Las Vegas casino complex on Wednesday night.

According to Spears, she was struck by a security guard when she attempted to approach Wembanyama near a restaurant. On the other hand, Wembanyama claimed that someone, later identified as Spears, grabbed him from behind.

However, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department stated on Friday that Spears had inadvertently "hit herself in the face" when someone pushed her hand off Wembanyama. The police investigation concluded that the security guard did not intentionally or unlawfully use force or violence against Spears. No arrests were made, and no citations were issued.

The police report revealed that surveillance footage showed Spears attempting to tap Wembanyama on the shoulder. However, when her hand made contact, the security guard pushed her hand away without looking, causing her hand to hit herself in the face.

Spears had filed a police report, accusing the security guard of battery.

Wembanyama is set to make his NBA Summer League debut for the Spurs in Las Vegas on Friday night. Standing at 7 feet 3 inches, the French teen was the number one pick in last month's NBA draft and is entering the league with tremendous hype, comparable to LeBron James in 2003.

The altercation occurred on Wednesday night when Spears spotted Wembanyama at a different hotel earlier in the evening. When she saw him again at the Aria Resort & Casino, she decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success.

Spears described the incident as "super embarrassing" in posts on Twitter and Instagram. She denied grabbing Wembanyama and insisted that she only tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. She expressed hope for an apology from either the team or the security guard involved.

Wembanyama provided a different account of the events. He claimed that security personnel advised him not to stop for anyone as he entered the restaurant, as pausing could cause a commotion and attract a crowd. He stated that one person was shouting "sir, sir" at him and then grabbed him from behind. It was only later that he was informed that the person was Spears. He never turned around and never saw her.

Both the security guard for the Spurs and Spears' security team stated during police interviews that pushing a hand off someone's shoulder is a standard response. The security guard for the Spurs confirmed that he spoke with Spears afterward, identified himself, and apologized. Spears' security team also stated that she apologized.

Britney Spears' attorney, Mathew Rosengart, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the police report.
