Kim and Lin tied for first place after first round of U.S. Women's Open

Kim Hyo-joo and Lin Xiyu tied for first-round lead at U.S. Women's Open.

South Korean golfer Kim Hyo-joo and Chinese golfer Lin Xiyu both had exceptional performances in the first round of the U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach. They each shot 4-under-par rounds of 68, putting them in a tie for the lead.

Kim, who is seeking her second major championship title, got off to a strong start with four birdies. She did have a bogey on the ninth hole, but managed to avoid any further mistakes on the back nine. She expressed her satisfaction with her overall performance, especially her ability to make par on the back nine.

Although Kim was the runner-up in the 2018 U.S. Women's Open, she emphasized that she is focused on this tournament and has a new mindset. Her good performance in the first round has given her confidence moving forward.

Lin, on the other hand, is looking for her first major championship title. She has had success on the China LPGA Tour and the European Tour, but is eager to secure a win on the LPGA Tour. She made five birdies and one bogey in her round, and was particularly pleased with her short game.

After narrowly missing out on the Women's PGA Championship two weeks ago, Lin is determined to perform well in this tournament. She has had three top-three finishes this season and is hoping to finally secure her first win.

In addition to Kim and Lin, there were six players just one shot behind the leaders, including Irish golfer Leona Maguire and amateur golfer Aine Donegan. Maguire has had several top-10 finishes in majors and is also seeking her first title.

Overall, the first round of the U.S. Women's Open showcased some impressive performances from both experienced players and rising stars. It will be exciting to see how the tournament unfolds and who will come out on top.
