Kelsea Ballerini Shares Final Musical Details About Divorce

Kelsea Ballerini releases two new songs on her divorce EP, addressing the split and her healing journey, hoping for growth and acceptance.

Country singer Kelsea Ballerini has recently expanded her divorce EP, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat, with two new songs that delve into the aftermath of her split from fellow country star Morgan Evans. Despite the scathing lyrics, Ballerini expresses her readiness to move on from the tumultuous divorce. One of the new songs, "Interlude (Full Length)," serves as an explosive extension of the original EP's "Interlude," delving deeper into the raw emotions surrounding the divorce. The lyrics touch on the rumors surrounding the split and the complexities of setting the record straight. Another new song, "How Do I Do This," explores Ballerini's journey to rediscover herself after such a heart-wrenching breakup. She reflects on the challenges of navigating love after experiencing such pain.

Ballerini took to Twitter to share her thoughts on the expanded EP and her decision to release "Interlude (Full Length)." She revealed that she had been performing the extended version live on tour, and fans had been eagerly requesting its release. She expressed her pride and protectiveness over the EP as a songwriter, producer, and artist. However, she also called for her fans' understanding and asked them to focus on the music itself rather than delving back into the past experiences that inspired the songs.

Ballerini's hope is for her fans to grow, heal, and evolve alongside her, embracing acceptance and kindness. She acknowledges that there may be moments when her inner fire-breathing dragon is unleashed while singing the new versions of these songs. She playfully asks her fans if they can relate to this experience.

While Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good) is expected to be Ballerini's final statement on the matter, it remains to be seen if Evans will respond with one last musical salvo. Evans initially sparked the back-and-forth with his viral debut performance of "Over for You" in September 2022, just weeks before the divorce was finalized. Ballerini then released the original Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP on Valentine's Day of this year, while Evans included breakup songs on his April 2023 EP, Life Upside Down.
