I feel like I grew 10 years between the ages of 18 and 20 -- it was such an intense period of awkwardness and change. In a newsletter to her fans, Rodrigo further explained the inspiration behind Guts, stating that she created most of the album during her 19th year, which was filled with confusion, mistakes, awkwardness, and good old-fashioned teen angst. She worked on it with her friend Dan, splitting her time between New York and L.A. Rodrigo expressed her immense pride in the album and her excitement for this new chapter in her life, eagerly anticipating its release on September 8th.
