Titans Receiver Treylon Burks Avoids Serious Injury During Practice Session With Vikings
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks suffers a potential setback after injuring his left leg during practice with the Minnesota Vikings.
In a practice session between the Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings, wide receiver Treylon Burks suffered an injury that left him unable to put weight on his left leg. This could be a setback for the Titans' offense, as they were relying on a significant contribution from Burks, who is in his second year with the team.
During a one-on-one drill against Vikings cornerback Akayleb Evans, Burks caught a deep pass but stumbled forward, causing him to fall to the ground. He limped to his feet, clutching his leg, and it became clear that he would need assistance to leave the field. The Titans' medical staff then carted him off for further examination. Unfortunately, Titans coach Mike Vrabel was not available for comment after the practice.
Later in the evening, NFL media reports stated that an MRI revealed an LCL sprain in Burks' left knee. The good news is that he should only be out of action for a few weeks. This update was a relief for the team and his teammates, who expressed their concern for Burks. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill commented, "You hate seeing that. We'll find out more information and see what's really going on, but hopefully he's going to be all right. He seemed obviously upset and understandably so. Our thoughts and prayers are with him right now, and hopefully it's not too bad."
Burks, who was the 18th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Arkansas, had a promising rookie season with 33 catches for 444 yards and one touchdown. He was expected to play a key role in the Titans' offense, especially since the team struggled in passing yards last season, ranking third worst in the league.
The joint practice session between the Titans and Vikings was part of their preparations for their upcoming preseason game on Saturday night. However, Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison did not participate due to being in the concussion protocol with minor symptoms after a recent practice, according to coach Kevin O'Connell.
