Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams may consider returning to USC for another year instead of entering the NFL draft.

In an interview with GQ Magazine, Caleb Williams, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and standout quarterback from Bowie, Maryland, addressed speculation about his future in the NFL. Williams, who is projected to be the top overall draft pick next April, deflected questions about his NFL plans, stating that his main focus at the moment is preparing for the upcoming game against Stanford. He emphasized his commitment to his current team and expressed his desire not to let his teammates down.

Williams' father, Carl, also spoke to GQ Magazine, shedding light on the possibility of his son returning to USC for another year depending on the circumstances surrounding the team that drafts him first overall. Many NFL experts predict that the Arizona Cardinals will have the worst record this season, making them the likely team to secure the number one pick.

Carl Williams expressed concerns about the NFL draft process, suggesting that being drafted first overall may not always be advantageous. He argued that the system is flawed, as the worst-performing team in the league is given the first pick, potentially leading to a challenging situation for the drafted player. He cited examples such as Archie Manning, whose career suffered due to being drafted by a struggling organization, and Lincoln Riley and Kyler Murray, who faced difficulties because of their draft placements. Williams' father emphasized the importance of the team and organization in determining a player's success.

Caleb Williams acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future and the lack of control he has over the situation. He revealed that throughout his football career, he has always been able to choose the team he plays for, but now, as he enters the next phase of his career, he faces a new level of uncertainty. Despite this, he remains focused and determined to make the best decisions for himself and his future.

Last year, Williams made history by becoming the first Heisman Trophy winner from the Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia area. He attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., before playing college football at Oklahoma and later transferring to USC. Williams' upbringing in Bowie, Maryland, and his journey through different schools and teams have shaped him into the talented quarterback he is today.

In the previous season, Williams showcased his skills by passing for an impressive 4,537 yards, with 42 touchdowns and only five interceptions. His completion rate stood at 66 percent, highlighting his accuracy and ability to lead his team effectively.
