Angelica Ross Speaks Out on Ryan Murphy's Neglect Following 'American Horror Story' Collaboration
Angelica Ross, known for her roles in "Pose" and "American Horror Story," accuses Ryan Murphy of mistreatment and lost opportunities.
Angelica Ross, known for her roles in "Pose" and "American Horror Story," has opened up about her less-than-positive experiences with Ryan Murphy, the creator of both shows. In a recent social media post, Ross shared screenshots of emails she allegedly received from Murphy in 2020. One email discussed moving forward with Ross's idea for a new season of "American Horror Story" featuring an all-Black female cast. The email mentioned starting a writers room in the fall and suggested Ross and Keke Palmer as principal stars.
However, Ross claims that Murphy never responded to her subsequent email in February 2022, where she expressed interest in producing and adding to the overall storyline of the Black lead cast. In the meantime, she believes she missed out on a Marvel project after years of auditions. Ross expressed frustration not just with the idea changing but with the lack of clarity regarding her contract option and availability for other opportunities.
As of now, Murphy has not publicly responded to Ross's allegations. HuffPost reached out to his representative for comment but did not receive an immediate response. These claims against Murphy came just before Ross called out actor Emma Roberts, who has also appeared in "American Horror Story." Ross accused Roberts of intentionally misgendering her during the filming of Season 9, titled "1984." However, Ross later acknowledged that Roberts privately apologized for the incident.
Since her last appearance on "American Horror Story" in 2021, Ross has been focused on projects outside of television. She made her Broadway debut in the lead role of Roxie Hart in "Chicago" last year. However, Ross hinted on Thursday that she may be pursuing a different profession, potentially stepping away from the spotlight.
In a social media post, she mentioned that there would be forthcoming articles detailing her decision to "leave Hollywood." Ross emphasized her identity as a Black trans woman and expressed a fearless attitude, stating that she has nothing to lose. She concluded her message by referencing the character Candy, who was born from her own body.
