The action kicked off with the Bills receiving the opening kick and embarking on an impressive 57-yard drive that resulted in a Tyler Bass field goal, giving them an early 3-0 lead. Buffalo's defense then stepped up, with two consecutive sacks and Terrel Bernard's second interception of the season, effectively shutting down the Commanders' drive.
After a series of punts from both teams, Josh Allen wasted no time making an impact when the Bills' offense returned to the field. On the very first play, Allen connected with Gabe Davis for a spectacular 35-yard touchdown, extending Buffalo's lead to 10-0 late in the first quarter.
The second quarter continued to be dominated by the Bills. The defense once again came up big, intercepting Commanders' quarterback Sam Howell. This time, it was safety Micah Hyde who made the play, securing his first interception in two years. The Bills added two field goals in the quarter, heading into halftime with a comfortable 16-0 advantage.
The Bills' defense maintained their stronghold on the game as the third quarter began. Deep in Bills territory, Howell threw his third interception of the game, this time picked off by Tre'Davious White. Although Josh Allen threw his fourth interception of the season on the ensuing Bills' drive, the stingy Buffalo defense held strong, keeping the Commanders scoreless at 16-0.

Terrel Bernard recovered a fumble, setting up Allen to showcase his versatility by scrambling for a 10-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 23-0 after the successful PAT.
However, the rain began to pour in Landover, Maryland, both figuratively and literally. AJ Epenesa made a memorable impact by recording his first career interception and returning it for a pick-six on the following Washington drive.
