Cardinals QB Joshua Dobbs Reaches Impressive 20 mph Speed against Cowboys

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs showcased his speed during a game against the Dallas Cowboys, making the top-20 list of fastest plays by a ball carrier in Week 3.

Imagine the possibilities of Kyler Murray in the revamped Arizona Cardinals' offense. It's not hard to envision, considering the Cardinals have been utilizing their current starting quarterback, Joshua Dobbs, in the running game.

During Arizona's 28-16 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Dobbs caught the Cowboys off guard early in the game. He executed a fake handoff and quickly dashed around the edge, covering 44 yards to set up a field goal.

According to Next Gen Stats, Dobbs reached an impressive speed of 19.86 mph on that play. It was the 18th-fastest play by a ball carrier in Week 3, and Dobbs was the only quarterback to make the top-20 list.

Reflecting on his speedy performance, Dobbs humorously remarked, "I think I was speeding in a school zone." He added, "That was good to see. I looked up on the board in the third quarter for the fastest miles per hour. Our QB coach, Israel Woolfork, he was asking if I still had my college speed. I definitely had to prove him wrong."

Dobbs' impressive run was the longest by an Arizona quarterback since Murray's 57-yard rush on Christmas Day in 2021.

So far this season, the only player on the Cardinals to reach a higher speed than Dobbs is wide receiver Hollywood Brown. Brown achieved a speed of 20.17 mph on a 29-yard end-around in Week 1, according to Next Gen Stats.

Dobbs showcased his speed in Week 2 as well, scoring a rushing touchdown against the New York Giants. He demonstrated his determination by bullying his way through defenders to reach the end zone.

Another player who deserves recognition for his speed is wide receiver Rondale Moore. He left Dallas defenders in the dust with a change of pace, sprinting for a 45-yard touchdown on Sunday. Surprisingly, Moore's impressive play did not make it into the top-20 fastest plays by a ball carrier for the week.
