USC football brings calm confidence to Prime Time clash in Boulder
University of Colorado Head Coach Deion Sanders and the hype surrounding the team's games have led to increased TV ratings and audience engagement.
In the bustling city of Boulder, it seems like everyone is talking about the University of Colorado's Head Coach, Deion Sanders. Known for his flashy sunglasses and love for the spotlight, Sanders has captured the attention of not just the town, but the entire nation.
During a recent speech at training, Sanders expressed his defiance towards those who waste their time hating on him. He confidently stated, "Why would you want to talk about us when we don't talk about nobody? All we do is go out here, work our butts off, and do our job on Saturday." His unapologetic attitude has become a hot topic of conversation.
But it's not just talk, it's also good for business. TV ratings have skyrocketed, with an audience that represents less than five percent of the state's population. According to ESPN, Colorado's first three games of the season saw a 77 percent increase in ratings among Black viewers, who made up 23 percent of the audience. In comparison, Black viewers only accounted for 15 percent of non-Colorado games.
Even Oregon, who faced off against Colorado in game four, was fueled by the hype surrounding Sanders and his team. Head coach Dan Lanning addressed his players before the game, emphasizing the difference between fighting for clicks and fighting for wins. He reminded them that the game would be played on the grass, not in Hollywood.
As the USC team prepares to travel to Boulder for the upcoming matchup, their head coach, Lincoln Riley, acknowledges Sanders' success. "I see right where he's coming from," Riley said. "He's done a great job with the roster. And the other thing I've seen is-- I don't know him, I've never met him-- but he seems to be very genuine in his approach."
For USC wide receiver Brenden Rice, this game holds special meaning. It will be his first time playing in Boulder since he was a Buffalo before transferring. Rice, whose father is Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, has had his own rise to success at USC. While he admires Sanders' transformation of Colorado, he sees the game as a rivalry and is eager to tear up Folsom Stadium.
The highly anticipated game is set to kick off in Boulder at 10am local time, 9am in Los Angeles. Fans and viewers alike will be tuning in to witness the clash between these two teams and the impact of Sanders' leadership on the field.
