The Signal Awards celebrate the best of the podcasting industry, recognizing those who are pushing boundaries, telling important stories, and connecting with listeners worldwide.

Deondric Royster, the managing director of the Signal Awards, commented on the growing popularity of podcasts in 2023. He noted that listenership has continued to skyrocket, and new trends have emerged. The winners of the Signal Awards represent the pinnacle of the industry, showcasing the power of podcasting to entertain, inform, and connect with audiences.

Among the winners is the podcast Origins: Doja Cat, which took home the award for Music -- individual episode. Snoop Dogg W+M won in the Music -- limited series category. Audible, the platform that released these podcasts, received the inaugural Company of the Year Award. Audible also received recognition for titles such as Origins: Tobe Nwigwe, Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast, and The Sesame Street Podcast.

In addition to the official awards, the Signal Awards also allowed the public to vote for the Listener's Choice Award. Over 130,000 votes were cast, and podcasts like Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, HBO's The Last of Us Podcast, Mobituaries with Mo Rocca, Small Town Dicks, Barely Famous, And That's Why We Drink, and Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls received the most votes.

With over 2,000 entries, music and comedy-based podcasts dominated the competition. Some of the other winners include Questlove Supreme for Best Guest -- individual episode, Origins: Tobe Nwigwe for Arts & Culture -- individual episode, Did Mac Dre Really Go To Prison Because of His Lyrics for Best Conversation Starter -- individual episode, Milk Drunk: The Podcast, Meghan Trainor & Emily Oster: Redefining "Best" Parenting for Interview or Talk Show -- individual episode, Björk: Sonic Symbolism for Most Innovative Audio Experience -- limited series & specials, Lake Song for Best Original Score or Music -- limited series & specials, Can You Dig It?: A Hip-Hop Origin Story for Best Writing -- limited series & specials, and Snoop Dogg W+M for Music -- limited series.
