'Giants vs. Bills: Buffalo Escapes New York's Upset Bid with Goal-Line Stop on Final Play'
The Bills narrowly escaped an upset by the Giants, winning 14-9 after a sluggish start and a late-game defensive stand.
The Buffalo Bills improved their season record to 4-2 with a hard-fought 14-9 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday night. In a week filled with surprising upsets, it seemed that the biggest upset of the day might happen at Highmark Stadium. Despite being double-digit underdogs, the Giants went into halftime with a 6-0 lead. However, the Bills rallied in the second half, scoring back-to-back touchdowns to secure the win.
The game came down to the final seconds when the Giants had a chance to win the game from the Buffalo 1-yard line. However, Taylor's pass to Darren Waller fell incomplete as time expired, allowing the Bills to escape the potential upset.
The Bills got off to a slow start, with their offense struggling in the first half. They punted on three of their first four possessions and turned the ball over twice. It wasn't until late in the third quarter that they even reached the red zone. The Giants' defense put pressure on Josh Allen and effectively shut down the Buffalo passing game. Meanwhile, Tyrod Taylor, filling in for the injured Daniel Jones, moved the ball well but couldn't find the end zone. The Giants missed an opportunity to score at the end of the first half when they failed to convert from the Bills 1-yard line.
Buffalo's defense stepped up in the second half, forcing a punt on the Giants' opening possession. The offense then found its rhythm, relying heavily on the running game. The Bills ran the ball on 12 of their 17 plays on the ensuing drive, culminating in a touchdown pass from Allen to Deonte Harty. The Giants briefly regained the lead with a field goal, but the Bills responded with another touchdown drive to secure the win.
Josh Allen had a solid performance, completing 19 of 30 passes for 169 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. His favorite target was Stefon Diggs, who caught 10 of his 16 targets for 100 yards. Tyrod Taylor completed 24 of 36 passes for 200 yards. Saquon Barkley, in his first game back from injury, rushed for 93 yards on 24 carries.
Looking ahead, the Giants will return to MetLife Stadium for a two-game homestand, starting with a Week 7 matchup against the Commanders. The Bills, on the other hand, will travel to Foxborough to take on the Patriots.
