In the recent second round of the 2023 presidential elections in Ecuador, the candidates Daniel Noboa of the National Democratic Alliance (ADN) and Luisa González of the Citizen Revolution faced off. According to the official results from the National Electoral Council (CNE), Noboa secured 52.29% of the votes, while González received 47.71% with 90.9% of the valid minutes accounted for. Noboa accumulated a total of 4,885,188 votes, while González garnered 4,457,350 votes.
An exit poll conducted by Luis Esteban Lapo and presented by Teleamazonas suggested that Noboa would have obtained 53.85% of the votes, with González receiving 46.15%.
Over 13.4 million eligible Ecuadorians had the opportunity to cast their votes in the presidential elections held on Sunday.
Noboa received the news of his victory in Olón, where he resides. He expressed his intention to remain in the place where his journey began. Businesswoman Isabel Noboa, the candidate's aunt, arrived at the coastal point via helicopter, accompanied by other family members and supporters.
Prior to the announcement of the results, Noboa cast his vote amidst tight security at the Antonio Moya Sánchez school in the Olón commune. He emphasized that people desire an end to impunity, progress, job opportunities, and hope for the younger generation.
Noboa's wife, Lavinia Valbonesi, also voted in Guayaquil earlier in the day. The couple arrived at the polling station in an armored vehicle, donning bulletproof vests for protection.
Diana Atamaint, the president of the CNE, stated on national television that the results of the 2023 elections can now be accessed through the platforms prepared by the organization. She emphasized that the trend is now irreversible.
Following her defeat, Luisa González of the Citizen Revolution publicly acknowledged Daniel Noboa's victory and congratulated those who did not vote for her. She expressed her gratitude for their support of the chosen trend.
Addressing the RC5 militancy in Quito, González emphasized their role in a political project and highlighted the meticulous planning and investment behind her campaign. She announced her intention to contact the virtual president-elect, Daniel Noboa, after making her statement.
