Leonard Fournette Signs With Bills: Sending a Message on Instagram

Super Bowl champion Leonard Fournette signs with the Buffalo Bills after a canceled visit earlier in the month.

Super Bowl champion Leonard Fournette has found a new home with the Buffalo Bills after a failed visit earlier in the month. The Bills signed the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back to their practice squad to provide veteran depth in the backfield due to injuries. Fournette took to Instagram to express his happiness about the signing, sharing a picture of himself smiling and a video clip with Bills receiver Stefon Diggs.

The Bills initially planned to sign Fournette earlier in the month but changed their plans when they expected to lose practice squad running back Ty Johnson. However, Johnson ended up staying in Buffalo, leading to the cancellation of Fournette's visit. But now, Fournette has finally found an opportunity in Buffalo.

Fournette brings a versatile skill set to the Bills' backfield, coming off a season where he had 1,191 yards from scrimmage and a career-high 523 receiving yards with the Buccaneers. He adds depth and experience to the team, with three rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns in the previous season.

This signing comes just before the NFL trade deadline, leading to speculation that the Bills could make more offensive additions. The team had already made key additions to their backfield last offseason, signing Damien Harris and Latavius Murray to enhance their running game.

However, Harris suffered a neck injury in a recent game against the New York Giants and was taken off the field in an ambulance. Bills head coach Sean McDermott provided a positive update on Harris's condition, but did not give a timeline for his return.

The Bills are also cautious about quarterback Josh Allen's health and have limited his designed runs and scrambles. Allen has fewer rushing yards this season compared to previous years, as the team prioritizes his long-term well-being.

With the addition of Leonard Fournette, the Bills hope to strengthen their backfield and potentially add more firepower to their offense before the trade deadline. Fournette's arrival brings excitement and anticipation for what he can contribute to the team.
