Adolis García injury: Rangers slugger sidelined for World Series Game 4 with oblique strain
Texas Rangers All-Star right fielder Adolis García exited Game 3 of the World Series due to a moderate oblique strain.
Texas Rangers All-Star right fielder Adolis García had to leave Game 3 of the World Series against the Diamondbacks due to tightness in his left side. This happened in the eighth inning when García grabbed his side after a swing. Travis Jankowski took over for him in right field for the bottom of the inning. After the game, García underwent an MRI and it was revealed that he has a moderate strain of the oblique. As a result, he will not be in the starting lineup for Game 4 and Jankowski will take his place again.
The team has not yet decided whether García will remain on the active roster for the rest of the series, according to Rangers manager Bruce Bochy. Oblique strains typically take weeks to heal, with an average recovery time of 38 days. However, given that this is the World Series, García may attempt to play through the injury. It is likely that doing so would put him at a disadvantage.
Losing García for the remainder of the series would be a significant blow for the Rangers. He has been their cleanup hitter and has already set a record for the most RBI in a single postseason. In 15 playoff games, García has an impressive batting average of .323, an on-base percentage of .382, and a slugging percentage of .726. He has hit eight home runs, including a walk-off blast in Game 1, and has driven in 22 runs.
If García is taken off the roster, he will not be able to return for the rest of the series, effectively ending his season. However, the Rangers will be able to activate another player in his place to avoid playing shorthanded.
