New York Freezes Over in First Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Trailer

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire trailer reveals two generations of Ghostbusters uniting to fight the most powerful ghost in New York.

The highly anticipated Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is set to bring the beloved Ghostbusters back to their iconic home of New York City. Sony has unveiled the first trailer for the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which promises an epic showdown between two generations of Ghostbusters as they come together to battle the most formidable ghost they've ever faced.

The trailer reveals that Winston has held onto the firehouse despite the disbanding of the Ghostbusters, a decision that proves crucial as New York City becomes engulfed in an icy freeze. The official synopsis for the film sets the stage for an action-packed adventure:

"In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to the iconic New York City firehouse to join forces with the original Ghostbusters, who have established a top-secret research lab to elevate their ghost-busting capabilities. However, when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes a malevolent force, both new and old Ghostbusters must unite to defend their home and prevent a second Ice Age from engulfing the world."

The star-studded cast includes returning actors Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and McKenna Grace from Ghostbusters: Afterlife, as well as original Ghostbusters Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts. There is also speculation about whether Sigourney Weaver will reprise her role in this installment. Additionally, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O'Connor, and Logan Kim will be joining the cast, with Jason Reitman, director of Afterlife, co-writing the script alongside Gil Kenan, who will also direct the sequel.

Originally slated for release on December 20, 2023, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has faced delays and is now scheduled to hit theaters on March 29, 2024. Despite the setbacks, fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the Ghostbusters to the big screen in what promises to be an exhilarating and nostalgia-filled sequel.
