Vikings Bengals inactives: Justin Jefferson to play against Bengals, JaMarr Chase
LSU Tigers' reunion as Bengals stars, Justin Jefferson cleared to play, Vikings face Bengals with fourth starting quarterback, rookie running back.
The LSU Tigers' 2019 national champions had a mini-reunion in Cincinnati, as Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, and Joe Burrow, now Bengals stars, were set to face off against each other. Jefferson, who was questionable due to a chest injury, was cleared to play for the Vikings against the Bengals.
The Vikings, with their fourth starting quarterback of the season, Nick Mullens, will rely heavily on Jefferson's performance, especially with key players like right tackle Brian O'Neill and running back Alexander Mattison out due to injuries. The team will also see rookie Ty Chandler making his first NFL start and journeyman David Quessenberry stepping in for O'Neill.
With rookie Jaren Hall as the backup quarterback and Joshua Dobbs demoted to the No. 3 emergency role, the Vikings have elevated Trishton Jackson and Myles Gaskin from the practice squad for added depth. However, linebacker Anthony Barr, who recently re-signed with the team, will not play against the Bengals.
The Vikings' inactives include O'Neill, Mattison, Nailor, Chris Reed, Nick Muse, Lewis Cine, and Dobbs, while the Bengals' inactives are Chris Evans, Joe Bachie, Jackson Carman, Jay Tufele, and Trey Hill.
