49ers vs Cardinals third quarter: 35 should do the trick
Injuries plague the 49ers in preseason game, but they still lead at halftime. Excitement builds as they head into the third quarter.
The 49ers faced another setback on defense as Kalia Davis suffered an ankle injury, leaving his return in question. Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey took a hard hit and was slow to get up, but he managed to stay in the game.
After a brief scare, it was determined that Purdy had sustained a stinger to his non-throwing shoulder. Despite this, he managed to lead the team to a 21-13 lead with a great play that involved a 19-yard pass to Kittle and a catch by McCaffrey.
The defense did their part by getting a stop, but a muffed punt by Ronnie Bell gave the Cardinals an opportunity. Fortunately, the ruling was overturned, preventing the Cardinals from gaining momentum.
The 49ers managed to advance into Cardinals' territory with a 13-yard pass to McCaffrey and a 22-yard catch and run to Jauan Jennings. However, due to McCaffrey's inability to get out of bounds, the team was left without timeouts. The Cardinals then used their final timeout, realizing their initial plan to concede a short throw was not a good idea.
The first half ended with the Niners leading 21-13, and they would receive the ball to start the third quarter. Despite the challenges, the team was back to full strength and ready to face whatever the second half would bring.
