Sam Bennett, Brandon Montour, and Aleksander Barkov also contributed goals for the Panthers. Florida's Sergei Bobrovsky had an outstanding performance with 38 saves, and head coach Paul Maurice praised his dynamic and explosive presence in the crease. The Oilers, who had an eight-game winning streak, have now lost two straight.
The Panthers started the scoring early in the game, with Verhaeghe and Montour finding the back of the net in the first period. Barkov added another goal to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead. The Oilers managed to get on the board in the second period, but Florida quickly restored their three-goal advantage with a power-play goal from Bennett. Verhaeghe scored his second goal of the game early in the final frame to secure the victory for the Panthers.
Despite a penalty shot opportunity for the Oilers, Bobrovsky made a crucial stop to maintain the Panthers' lead. Panthers defenseman Josh Mahura also returned to the lineup after missing the last 13 games due to injury.
The Panthers will face the Calgary Flames to finish a five-game trip, while the Oilers will take on the New York Islanders to start a stretch of six straight road games.
